GE signs $330m contracts for Norte III power plant in Mexico

GE’s power services business has entered multi-year agreements (MYA) worth $330m with a consortium led by Macquarie and Techint to deliver a total plant services solution for the 907MW Norte III Power Plant in Mexico.
The long-term contracts include fully integrated operation and maintenance (O&M) and contractual service agreements for a period of 25 years.
GE will also deploy asset performance management (APM) and operations optimisation (OO) software applications that will utilise advanced analytics to predict and avoid any unplanned downtime, as well as enhance the productivity of the plant.

Oman seeks consultants for first waste-to-energy project

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has floated a tender seeking bids from consultancy firms to provide a techno-economic feasibility study for building the country’s first waste-to-energy (WTE) project.
The project is being built in co-ordination with Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah).
If the project becomes feasible, the winning consultant will also act as a technical advisor for preparing the tender document for selecting an independent producer through a competitive bidding process.

FRV secures financing for 342MW Mexican solar farm

Spanish renewable energy developer Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has reached financial close for the 342MW Potosí Solar Farm in Mexico.
For FRV, this solar project will be the first to be operated in the country.
The solar farm will be located 60km northeast of the city of Zacatecas in the State of San Luis de Potosí.
TSK has secured the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the solar farm. It will start the construction early this year and the solar plant is expected to operational by early next year.
The construction phase is expected to create up to 300 jobs and the operational phase could create 17 potentially permanent jobs.

Time of awarding second contract on Baku Oil Refinery announced

The contract for construction of new units as part of modernization of Baku Oil Refinery is planned to be signed in the first quarter of 2018.
The first tender to select ЕРСm (engineering, procurement and construction management) contractor for units subject to reconstruction was completed and a contract was signed with Spanish Tecnicas Reunidas on December19, 2017.
The second tender for selecting EPC contractor for construction of new units is close to completion, it is planned to sign the contract in the first quarter of 2018.
The cost of the contract with Spanish engineering company Tecnicas Reunidas is about $800 million.

Jacobs wins BP gas project contract in Oman

Jacobs Engineering Group said it has been awarded a three-year contract by energy giant BP to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for Phase Two of the Khazzan Project in Oman.
As per the deal, Jacobs will continue to deliver EPCM services in support of the project, including the ongoing expansion of the gas gathering system, wellsite facilities and export pipelines, said the company in a statement.
Jacobs had delivered the EPCM services for the process and infrastructure work during the first phase of this greenfield project as well.

Abu Dhabi to build $1.2bn desalination plant

The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (Adwea) has announced a $1.2-billion project to build the world’s largest water desalination plant in the UAE emirate, with operations set to begin in October 2021.
According to Adwea, the project will be built in the Al Taweelah Power Complex, 45 km north of Abu Dhabi, and produce 200 million gallons of water per day using reverse osmosis technology.
Plans call for the development, financing, construction, operation, maintenance and ownership of the plant.
Adwea invited alliances and developers to express their interest in participating in this project, according to the independent product model applied by the authority within the privatisation programme, in partnership with the private sector. Under this programme, Adwea seeks to own a 60 per cent stake in the project, while the private sector developer will own 40 per cent.

ACWA Power signs EPC Contract with Chint Group to build three PV projects in Egypt

ACWA Power, a leading developer of power and water desalination projects, awarded an EPC contract to China’s Chint Group for three solar photovoltaic power plants at Benban, Egypt.
The EPC contract moves forward the development of these three projects of a total investment value of US$ 190 million.
The projects, which are located in the Aswan Province at Benban, will have a respective capacity to generate 67.5 MWp, 70 MWp and 28 MWp as individual projects. The construction of the all projects will commence in Q1 2018. Once the projects start operations in Q4 2018, the new installed capacity will power 80,000 houses and provides a saving of 156,000 tons of CO2 a year.

Tengizchevroil awards pipelines construction contract to Bonatti

Bonatti was awarded the Area 51 Pipelines contract by Tengizchevroil (TCO) for the FGP-WPMP project.
Bonatti’s scope of work includes the construction and pre-commissioning of about 377 Km of various diameters pipelines:
Production Gathering System;
High Pressure Sour Gas Injection and Utilities (water, fuel gas, diesel)
Bonatti’s major partner in the contract is Montazhspetsstroy Joint Stock Company.
